Since vacation season is in full swing, we have decided to put together a list of patent illustrations from one of the greatest vacation spots, Disney World!
This patent illustration for the well-known Matterhorn Bobsled ride is pretty special. With this ride being around since 1959, there is a long history of family fun relating to it. The above patent illustration was actually filed in 1960 and the invention "provides an amusement ride which realistically simulates a ride on a bobsled." The full patent can be found here.
This patent for a Submarine Amusement Ride was filed in 1960. To describe the patent illustration, here is a quote from the patent filing: "One of the objects of our invention is to provide an amusement ride apparatus that realistically provides the illusion of a submarine voyage, but without actually subjecting the passengers to the hazards of submarine travel." This patent for a Boat Amusement Ride was filed in 1965 and the goal was to create a continuous boat ride. Today, Disney offers water transportation for guests and many other boat amusement rides exist, including the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride. The full patent can be found here.
This patent illustration is for a Floating Omnimover Ride and the patent was filed very recently. The patent itself claims that "The present invention relates, in general, to amusement park rides, and, more particularly, to a floating omnimover ride configured to provide high capacity rides with floating passenger vehicles or boats moving through the ride at a constant speed (or within a preset, accepted range of boat speeds) along a ride path."
